Daejong sounds like a sterile urban wasteland, but I have to go there to stop by a vet clinic.
Should i plan on a same-day turn around back to Seoul, or is there something worth doing/seeing there? i haven%26#39;t found any useful info and the hotels seem more expensive than Seoul, if that%26#39;s possible.
thanks!
Daejeon? Anything of interest?
Daejeon is much cheaper than Seoul in every way I know. Taxis are about 50 per cent of Seoul and 5 star hotels are about 100,000 won rack rate. Deals bring that rate down. You can eat for 5,000 won upwards
You could also pay 35,000won for a gourmet meal, of course.
It has plenty to offer to one who is interested in Korean culture, or the history associated with Expo. There is also the government area in Dunsan-dong.
The Yuseong spa area is a fascinating insight into Korean leisure, and the area around the city- Donghaksa, Gongju etc offer lots of historical sights and experiences.

Daejeon? Anything of interest?
I figured Daejeon would be cheaper, but it also seems to be a large science/tech park kind of area, which might imply that the main visitors are of the business sort. As I said, all of the hotels that came up in listings were on the much higher end for rates. there may simply be fewer choices, so higher rates, or only higher end. either way, it doesn%26#39;t suit my budget. i%26#39;m sure everything else in Daejeon is cheaper than in Seoul, because it%26#39;s not Seoul.
i%26#39;m coming from Shanghai, so i have already had enough of expo! thanks for the link, i%26#39;ll see if there is anything of interest to me and go from there.
I%26#39;m sure Daejeon has things of interest, i%26#39;m just wondering if it is more worthwhile to just make a short stop there and return to Seoul, or take a day or two. I have only three days, so, not enough time!
I%26#39;d go back to Seoul, to be honest.
Major scientific parks etc are the rule, along with the main govt buildings. It certainly isn%26#39;t an easy place to get into in a short time
thanks, i decided that%26#39;s what i%26#39;ll do unless anything catches my eye. it looks a bit difficult to navigate, and i don%26#39;t really feel like an adventure trying to master buses this time around. I think i will definitely check out the bullet train to get there though! thanks for the advice.
