How much to budget a day

Hey there

Ive heard mixed reviews of how expensive seoul is to visit. Me and my boyfriend will be there next week for 5 days... Staying at the meyong Ibis hotel. We wont be doin much shopping, just want to see the sights and food. We are keen to walk most places as well.

How much are we looking to budget a day?? Would 50 pounds per day be enough??

I think it would, asuming your hotel is not coming out of this. Entrance fees tend to be tiny, and in fact subway tickets are as well. Typically you%26#39;d pay 60p from the far end of Seoul to the middle.

Travel to your hotel using the bus (ideally city bus not limo) and use the subway or shanks%26#39;s pony.

Sanchon (relatively pricey) in Insadong used to be about 拢8 per head for the works; you%26#39;ll get a Korean bbq for 拢12 per head in an expensive place; less in most.

Dolsot bibimbap is a great cheap lunch, as long as you%26#39;re not veggie.

Myeogndong is at the hub, and you could probably get a day trip or two out of your budget.

Don%26#39;t eat in western restos though!

Hi there.

I think your budget will be all right considering the hotel is excluded and you are not doing any shopping nor eating any fancy food. The area you are staying is mostly for shopping tourists so you might want to consider that. If you are interested in night tours or visiting the suburbs of Seoul, i can arrange for that. my yahoo.com mail is the same as my id. my rough rates are about the same price of a local inexpensive cab fare (not the expensive delux cabs). I can provide good english guide too. I also do airport pickup and drop off for 50bucks (US).

If you want to rent a private car for the whole day, i can also arrange that for a hundred bucks a day.

Le me know of your needs. I can be very helpful for any of your needs in Korea.

cheers

Mike

Is that ok to budget 拢50 for both us a day for food transport and sightseeing? Or is that each?

I guess it is enough for a day thanks to the foreign exchange rate these days. The tansportaiton fee in Seoul is cheaper and enterance fees are not a big money though. There are thousands of restaurants in Seoul, so if you search in advance then enjoy a great meal in your budget.

50 pounds should be heaps. Excluding peak traffic times, taxis can be cheap too - you can always ask the driver in advance to get an idea of what it will cost. Eat near the markets and avoid the brightly lit western restaurants and you%26#39;ll have change. Beer is cheap (and sold at the convenience stores) so you can always save a few pounds that way.
