vegetarian food

Hi guys,

My husband and I are planning on going to Seoul in early April 2009 and I have a few questions, which i would be grateful if you could help me with:

1. Is it possible to find vegetarian food, as we do not eat fish, eggs or any kind of meat?

2. Are original brand watches and other items expensive and where is the best place to get these?

3.Do they do permanent hair straightening/rebounding and how much would it cost approximately?

and finally what is the weather likely to be like in early April?

1. Yes.

I just returned from a trip to Korea involving Gyeongju, Daejeon and Seoul with a vegan. Bibimbap (Jeonju, I think but someone will correct me) is meatless.

There are lots of side dishes which are purely vegetable and the '; main course'; can be plain rice or noodles.

You MAY need to find local advice however, as it%26#39;s not easy for a non-Korean speaker to find this sort of food reliably in conventional-ie non-specialist- restaurants.

So-called Buddhist temple food will be reliable: Sanchon in Insadong comes to mind in ';downtown';, and there%26#39;s a really nice one in Gangnam just south of Samseong station towards Daechi jct. It specialises in mushroom dishes, and is perect. I%26#39;ll try to find it%26#39;s name

It%26#39;s possible but not easy. Koreans are generaly slimmer than westerners partly due to less consumption of meat. Korean food seems to be full of vegatable and grain. But ironically real vegetarian food is very rare. Even Kimchi (fermented cabbage) contains some fish soup, though you can%26#39;t identify. Bibimbob also looks like vegeterian food but it is mostly served with some egg or tiny minced beef. Most kinds of soup or stew, which is indispensable in Korean meal, also based on meat or fish broth. Actually, it is hard to find real vegetarians in Korea though Koreans are generally vegetable lovers. If you are strict vegetarian, buddhist restraunt would be the only option. Or you can specially order vegetarian Bibimbob or something like that.
