I have always wanted to visit Seoul, now that the Korean currency is weak, is it more affordable than before ?

Compared to last year,

- is the airfare from USA cheaper ?

- How about hotel rooms %26amp; retaurants ?

Clearly if you get more won to the dollar, hotels and eating out are going to be cheaper.

It was never expensive, like Tokyo, of course.

1 US Dollar buys 1500 WON, this used to be 1000 WON, about 3 months ago. The questions is: have the prices in Seoul also gone up by same ratio in the last 3 months ? Specially, prices in restaurants %26amp; hotels ?

why would prices in Korea go up just because dollar rate has changed?

Of course they have risen, due to inflation but nothing (much) to do with US currency rate. If they kept pace with that Koreans would no longer be able to eat.

A metro ticket for a short journey on Seoul subway remains 1000 won; entrance to Changdeok palace remains 1500 won, and the limo bus is still 14000 wom.

A late reply, I know. Prices here are the same. Your dollar will get a good rate here, cash. However, don%26#39;t use credit cards. They%26#39;ll do the double exchange on you, that is, use the current exchage rate and then back to won. Try to use TCs or cash as often as poss... Confused? Yes. No. Bring dollars and TCs and exchange them at a bank. Any bank. Prices here for stuff, barring gasoline, has been the same since %26#39;96....

Well its more affordable now, but its not going to last too long. the exchange rate was up to $1 for 1500 korean won last month but now its down to just over 1200 won for dollar. and eventually its going to drop around 1000-1100 won for dollar.seoul is cheaper compare to tokyo but expensive compare to thailand ,china. its similiar to hongkong and singapore. so my advice is if your going to seoul go now and enjoy the good exchange rate. because 2-3months from now it will eventually drop to where it was before.
