Nami Island DIY

My friend and I went to Nami today and here%26#39;s what we did:

To Nami:

1. We took the train to Jogno 3 station and got out of exit 1. We walked straight and when we walked passed the pagoda park, we turned right and saw the shuttle to Nami Island. Paid 7,500KW per person for a one way bus ticket to Nami warf. (round trip is 15,000) The bus left at 9:30am so you should get there early - some people already had reservations so we had to wait a while before he let us in. (btw the bus from Nami to Jogno3 leaves at 4pm from Nami wharf so

shuttle bus: 9:30 am from Jogno and 4pm for Nami )

2. Upon arriving in the wharf, we bought ferry tickets (round trip already)+admission fee = 8,000 KW

Back to Seoul:

3. Instead of taking the same route back by bus we decided to do it by train so coming back, we took the a cab (there%26#39;s lots of cabs queueing across the family mart near Nami wharf) and said we wanted to go to Gapyong Train Station. It costs 3,500KW.

4. Then we bought train tickets to Cheongnyangi (#124) Station for 3,400KW without a seat and 4,000KW with seats. Suggestion: better to reserve train tickets online or you%26#39;ll end up taking turns sitting down like what we did :) The trip took about 1 hour 15 mins.

5. Upon exiting in Cheongnayngi station, we turned right and walked down the stairs leaving the train station, then turned left towards the subway station to get to our destination. (switching train to subway took about 1-2 mins)

One tour company was charging us 77,000KW for the Nami Island trip but we decided to do it on our own - for the experience. Turned out to be much cheaper to do it on our own and we had time explore the island.

I think the bus and ferry ticket can be purchased together since I saw some locals holding both inside the bus. Not sure how to do this though. Anyway hope this helps!

btw, there were ice in some of the roads in Nami island today and it was quite slippery. My friend fell and hurt her butt...so be careful for those planning to go!

sorry to ask: was it worth the trip?

what did you think was good to see or do there?

thanks!

Nami Island DIY

Yes. The trip was worth visiting for a day trip (or even half day) but I don%26#39;t think there%26#39;s much to see if you stay overnight. We took pictures - nice sceneries the water was so calm that you could see the refection from other side of the river. Really tall trees. I guess photographers would appreciate the sceneries there since I saw a lot of SLR camera%26#39;s (with tripods). Nice to stroll around and relax. But if you%26#39;re staying for only a few days in Seoul, I don%26#39;t think this is one of the ';must see'; places.. unless you%26#39;re a big fan of the Winter Sonata Korean soap. (They even have a statue there)

Thanks. I guess it%26#39;s popular with people from, eg, Singapore because you get the show?

It doesn%26#39;t get to Europe so we never hear of Nami Island.
