Seoul to Gyeongju

Hello,

Could I please have alittle help with trains. We are a family of 4 taking the train from Seoul to Gyeongju for 2 nights stay there. I am planning on thaking the KTX train to Dongdaegu and then switching to a egular train onto Gyeongju. Can somebody please tell me the difference on a KTX train for first or standard class? Also is there a difference in the next train type, mugunghwa vs saemaul? We are traveling there at the beginning of April, do I nedd reservations on any of these trains?

Thanks so much, can%26#39;t wait to see the beautiful country!

Also you can book the tickets on this site.

Seoul to Gyeongju

First means more space, free water and headset, and seats all face forwards. About 30 per cent premium.

Standard means enough space, no free water. Some seats face back of train.

You DO need to reserve seats; often if you turn up quite close to the time, you cannot reserve standard on the next train, but you usually can with first.

PLEASE PLEASE; reserve your return seats at the latest when you arrive in Gyeongju. You can reserve on line.

If you do not do this (reserve, not reserve online) you may be stranded in Gyeongju.

Saemaul is a luxury type train, with reclining seats, tho a bit old. Mugunghwa is loco hauled general train. No first class.

At Dongdaegu look around for esaclators or elevators; they ARE there in the middle of the paltform, but o/wise you have quite a lot of stairs to climb.

At Gyeongju, you must use the underpass to cross tracks. There are only stairs.

Thanks for the info, I can easily reserve online before we leave. For the amount of trains that run every day it is mind boggling that they can be full! I guess we will see when we get there next week.
