Anyone been to Seoul during the 1st week of Mar? or any help whether this is still winter time and no cherry blossom yet?
March -? weather
Usually cherry blossom bloom from April through May in Korea. The exact period varys across regions. The temperature in March is usually 5-6 degrees Celcious. We consider March as the beginning of spring, but it will be still cold for Singaporeans. Fortunately or unfortunately, Korea is experiencing warmer winter than usual possibly because of global warming.
March -? weather
Hi there,
thanks for the info.....i will reconsider going then in early Mar.......mayb mid April will be better and will get to see both the blossom and better spring weather.
would you advise for first timer to go free and easy to Seoul in this case. We been to tokyo 2 yrs ago and did not encounter much of a problem and Korea will be a challenge as most of the signages are not in english or mandarin.......
Most signages are in Korean and English, sometimes even Mandarin in subway(=metro), department stores, museums. The anouncement in subway is in Korean and English, too. But, knowing how to pronounce Korean characters will come in handy because many restraunts have no English menu. Though language itself is way difficult for English or Chinese speakers, Korean character is easy to learn. If you learn Korean character, you can avoid confusion of inconsitent spelling of Korean words in Roman letters.
Hi! We will be there from March 18-24, was just wondering, what kind of, or how many layers of clothing should we prepare for? Is it necessary to wear thermals underneath jackets and scarves and gloves too?
I have checked on the weather history for last year and the temp. ranges from 4-16 celcius starting from March18. That would be considered quite cold for us who live in a warm climate all year round. We would like to be prepared for how cold it could be but not to over-pack and bring what is necessary only.
Thank you in advance for any replies!
Long sleeve top with a warm coat/jacket should be sufficient. Spring/autumn scarf will be useful but I don%26#39;t think thermals and gloves will be necessary.
Korea is excellent for shopping. You can buy good quality fashionable clothes at reasonable price. Korean winter clothes are much warmer than european made ones. I suggest you take as little as possible and buy clothes in Korea if necessary.
Check below page. You can figure out average temp, low temp, high temp in the past. It is done in Korean but you could try.

Dongdaemoon market! There are several shopping centers choked with many shops! …visitkorea.or.kr/enu/SH/SH_EN_7_2_5_1.jsp
I also like to shop at shopping center attached with Gangnam Express bus terminal.
